Guest guest
Hi, Re the email about the use of dog and cat fur from China. At Christmas I went to a plant nursery in Western Australia to purchase some hibiscus bushes. They had the variety I wanted so I traveled a little further than normal to their nursery. I think they call themselves a Garden or Gift Centre as well as a nursery or something similar. They had gifts and dried flowers and pot pourri as well as the plant nursery. What caught my eye was an item called " cat on a mat " or something to that effect. It was a fake curled up cat sitting on a doormat. You could buy the fake curled up cat as a present for someone for Xmas. The fur looked very unusual and real and the " cat's " face looked very unusual like something from a taxidermist. I picked one up and looked at it. The fur had patterns on it I couldn't quite identify. I asked someone if the item was real fur and the person said they thought it was rabbit fur. I said I might complain to Animal Liberation about it since I was involved in rabbit welfare. The lady I spoke to said she thought they came from China (as if that were any reason not to complain). I still have my doubts I was looking at rabbit fur. Some of the pattern was spots graduating outward and the fur had grey undertones underneath the top colour. Perhaps they are selling rabbit fur items here too which are not really rabbit fur but are the fur of some other animal. Whatever animal it is, it is so sad to see people make a gift out of some poor animals skin. The human race seems to be in denial of its moral and ethical duty to respect other species. Maybe the third world war will wipe out the rest of the human race and leave this planet to the animals. Kind regards, Marguerite
