International Aid for Korean Animals (IAKA,) and the Korean

Animal Protection Society (KAPS) is about to launch a boycott,

of all the major companies, of countries who torture, and

consume dogs and cats.

 

Samsung is Korea's largest and most profitable company.

Unlike other big Korean businesses, Samsung's chairman,

Mr. Kun Hee Lee does love dogs, and encourages employees

of the Samsung Corporation, to be involved in the welfare

of animals. The company has been sponsoring a dog show in

the UK and various programs that benefit the dogs, as well

Below is a sample letter, one of two, the second of which I will

post

separately. You can choose either one to send. Both are self

explanatory.

Dear Mr. Lee:

 

Please accept this petition letter on behalf of the companion

animals

in South Korea. As a native and long time resident of South Korea,

you must be well aware of the horror, and barbarism perpetuated on

these animals, by the dog and cat meat dealers. Being a highly

intelligent,

compassionate man, you must also realize that the image of your

Country, and its people, is suffering from the picture this atrocity

portrays, to people all over the World! This is why; I am very

surprised, and confused, that Samsung and you personally, have not

stood up against this barbarism publicly, and urged the Government

of

South Korea to uphold the current law, that makes the cruelty,

slaughter, and consumption of these animals illegal!

 

I have been to the Samsung and Animal Welfare site on the internet.

I

found this information very interesting, and applaud your efforts in

the animal welfare community. Unfortunately, what seems to be

Samsungs corporate statement, concerning animal welfare, paints a

very different picture, of the way companion animals are really

treated in South Korea. I have read the sites information, and

looked

at the pictures of all the beautiful dogs, and my heart broke,

because, in my mind, I keep seeing these animals being treated in

the

most cruel, inhumane ways. I hear the screams of terror, and pain,

that is the everyday scene in the South Korean meat markets!

 

As you may know, the dog and cat meat dealers have perpetrated lies

concerning this atrocity. Dog and cat meat is considered healthier,

and tastier, because of the horrific torture these animals are made

to suffer before killing them. Not only is this a falsehood, but it

is likely that eating these animals is very unhealthy. Animals

raised

for human consumption are not carnivores. Another glaring lie, is

that companion animal consumption, is a Korean culture. It is not! I

would not be proud to claim this disgusting practice as my culture!

These lies, betray the true purpose of this barbaric practice, greed

alone motivates the dog, and cat meat dealers! The world knows the

truth.

 

The Korean Government, and the dog and cat meat dealers are now

attempting to classify these animals as livestock, to make this

horror legal. To accomplish this, they are spreading more lies, that

making it legal to slaughter, and consume companion animals, will

make it easier to put an end to the torture. I contend, that if the

Government has not even attempted to enforce the laws, which make

torturing, and slaughtering companion animals for consumption,

illegal, making this practice legal will fare no better in stopping

the cruelty. This reveals this claim, to be another deceitful lie! I

also contend that dogs and cats are not food! The very nature of

these animals makes it impossible to breed, raise, and slaughter

them

for consumption, humanely.

 

People from every Country, every walk of life, who have experienced

the comfort, faithfulness, and unconditional love given by these

animals, are banning together, to put an end to this atrocity in

Korea, and other Asian Countries. We have tried to reason with the

Governments to no avail, they turn a deaf ear to us, and the cries

of

the animals. Our letters and emails go unread! It is time to give

these arrogant Governments, a reason to take us seriously. We are

planning a boycott of all the major corporations, of every dog and

cat eating country. Until these countries strengthen their laws on

animal cruelty, ban the consumption of companion animals, and

effectively enforce those laws, the boycott will continue!

 

As a major, Multinational Corporation, Samsung will be the target of

a boycott, in every country where it sells its products. Samsung

will

suffer the same poor image that Korea now has. Once Samsung has

sustained a bad moral image, even after the boycott is over, people

will remember, and the image of a company who claimed compassion,

but

in reality, had none where necessary, will suffer economically for

many years to come. Therefore, I respectfully ask that Samsung, and

you personally, Join in the efforts of the International community,

to stop the consumption of dogs, and cats in your country. This will

effectively uphold, and even raise the image of Samsung, while

improving the image of Korea.

 

Mr. Lee, I believe that Samsung, and you personally, could have a

very good effect on the people, and the Government, if you were to

publicly denounce the lies, legalization, and continuation, of the

eating of dogs and cats, by South Koreans. As a Corporation that has

contributed significantly to the economic growth of South Korea, you

are in a position to help negotiate the freedom of companion animals

with your Government, and to encourage your fellow countrymen, to

stand up against the dog and cat meat dealers. Your support in this

matter, could affect a turning point in our efforts to save these

beautiful, deserving animals, and would be praised, and remembered

by

the entire World community of compassionate people!
