State Security Service agents swooped on the warehouse owned by Paul Rad and searched it, after which they found two apes of the gorilla species and a rare breed of tortoise, according to nearby residents. Junior Environment Minister Ime Okopido, who ordered the search, said security reports showed the warehouse owner had been involved in illegal smuggling of these endangered species for 10 years, using Kano international airport. Gorillas and snakes were the main species reared in the warehouse for export to Europe and Asia. Smuggling of all animals is officially illegal in Nigeria. Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
