6 wolves escaped from safari park [Ningbo, China]

Oct.25th morning, 6 wolves ran out from East Qian Lake Safari Park. The

wolves bit a hole on the rusty cage and then ran out to the field nearby.

The 6 wolves were about 2 years old and 25kg weight. From Oct 25th

afternoon to 26th morning, 3 of the 6 were shot or poisoned. The police

officer in charge of the raid action said to journalists, the safari park

called the police at 25th noon, all the police officers were sent out at

once. They got the order clearly¡ª¡°kill on the spot¡±, the clerk of Ningbo

city government in charge or the raid said that the government¡¯s attitude

was specific: capture was not under consideration, the wolves found should

be killed on the spot!

And then on Oct 30th, 2 shooter heard noise from a brushwood, they went

forward and found a wolf was hiding there. They beat the wolf to death

using clubs immediately. After that, they noticed the tree nearby was

gnawed by the wolf, it seemed that the wolves ran out couldn¡¯t find any

food and then had to gnaw tree to fill themselves up. Another clerk said

that another wolf was also found on 30th, and the wolf had eaten the

poisonous bait and had fainted out, they caught it easily. But the wolf was

also killed immediately! After dissection, the wolves¡¯ stomachs were found

to be filled with barks and grasses, it was clearly that after one year

feeding in the Safari Park, the wolves were no longer able to prey and so

couldn¡¯t find any food themselves.

The manager of East Qian Lake Safari Park said that hunger may be the main

reason for the 6 wolves to escape. He personally thought the feeder hadn¡¯t

feed the wolves on time or enough food, and now the feeder was under

investigation.
