Guest guest
http://abc.net.au/ra/newstories/RANewsStories_729607.htm China tightens animal experiment regulations China is taking steps to ensure animals used in scientific experiments do not face unnecessary cruelty. China's state media reported the draft legal revisions urge researchers to take effective steps to reduce pain to animals, dispose of them in a humane way and find alternatives to such experiments whenever possible. But, the AFP news agency reported the revisions pale in comparison to regulations in other countries, some of which require prior approval for tests on animals, inspections and pre-experiment training for laboratory workers on using the most painless methods possible. The government began working on the revisions last week but did not specify what kind of research was being carried out on animals. Awareness of animal rights is beginning to grow in China as more people acquire pets and the media reports incidents of abuse. 18/11/2002 22:37:48 | ABC Radio Australia News
