He said investigations begun shortly after Parti Bersatu Sabah deputy president Dr Yee Moh Chai lodged a police report on Thursday after he received the memos through post at the start of the Budget session of the State Assembly. However, he declined to disclose the number of people whose statements had been recorded so far. Kota Kinabalu City CID chief Supt Mohd Akram Khan was seen at the lobby of the assembly and believed to be investigating the matter. Dr Yee had told reporters that the photocopies of the memos dated Nov 23 and Nov 26, 2001, were between Chief Minister Datuk Chong Kah Kiat and state-owned Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Dr Fowzi Mohd Razi. Two documents were supposedly memos from Chong to Dr Fowzi and the third was a copy of extracts of minutes of meeting among directors of Innoprise signed by its secretary D.B. Aludah. Innoprise is the commercial arm of the Yayasan Sabah, the state & #8217;s largest timber concession holder. Chong, who on Friday urged police to investigate how copies of his memo with regards to the revision of timber prices had slipped into public hands, said that the officials of Innoprise and his office would give full cooperation to the police. He had told reporters that the documents circulated was only “half the original” memos related to revision of timber prices interpreted by the Innoprise board. Describing those behind the memos as “vicious and malicious and had acted in a cowardly manner & #8217; & #8217;, Chong said if they thought there was anything wrong in the matter they could lodge a police report. Chong also said that he had a fair idea who the “culprits” were but was leaving it to the police to investigate. <p> ________________________ Your one-stop information portal: The Star Online http://thestar.com.my http://biz.thestar.com.my http://classifieds.thestar.com.my http://cards.thestar.com.my http://search.thestar.com.my http://star-motoring.com http://star-space.com http://star-jobs.com http://star-ecentral.com http://star-techcentral.com 1995-2002 Star Publications (Malaysia) Bhd.
