" tortoise2home " <richard Desperate in Tokyo Hi I hope someone can help: I am a British citizen temporarily living in Japan and inherited a russian tortoise (3 year old) from an Australian who was leaving the country and had no-one to give her to. Now I am leaving Japan in December and I have no-one to give her to and would dearly like to bring her back the the UK with me. I found the pet shop where she was bought and asked them to complete the bred in captivity forms. Apart from the pet shop being absolutley disgusting, as are many pet shops here, they would not fill in any forms because they said although she was bred in captivity, many of their pets are brought in as food items or without any paperwork at all. I have heard that without a form from the former owner I cannot export her. Since the pet shop won't help and I don't want her turned into a tortoise burger I am trying to find someone who can help. I would be extremely grateful f you know anyone who can help or can suggest anyone to contact.
