Director PUBLIC HEALTH VETERINARY SERVICES DR Harischandra has sent his dog

killers and killed the dogs in the Open UNiversity at Nawala on MOnday the

7th October afternoon.He used strichnine .

Two public Health Inspectors have entered into the school garden and killed

the dogs which were immunised for rabies.When children were crying asking

not to kill the dogs they killed them.

The Principal who is a good Buddhist was shocked and the P.H.I scolded the

Principal and retorted saying that they will kill the dogs even if the dogs

were immunised.

The Principal has complained that to the Assistant Director of Education Dr

D.Bibile .

Dr Harischandra is acting like a terrorist.Now Prime Minister should take

diciplinary action against Harischandra and all the workers who killed

animals on the spot and appoint a new Public Health Veterinary Director.

We are dissapointed with the Minister of Health and the new Director General

of Health Services.

It shows that there is no law in our country .Politicans and Top officers

are just looking after their interests .

 

I am not surprised as there was a senior veterinery surgeon called N.

Attapattu .He killed large number of elephants and didn`t come to treat the

sick elephants .He had strange political connections .There were lots of

malpractices like wasting 7 million rupees for Hadapangala Elephant drive

(that happened in 1996)and elephants were missing from the jungle.It was

suspected that missing elephants were sold by a Minister.

In 1997 May one Tusker which was injured by gunshots was treated by the

Horovpathana Government veterinary surgeon.It was walking and recovering. Dr

Atapattu came with some foreigners and tranqulized the elephant .The

foreigners were making a film.It was struggling for some time and died.he

went away asking the workers to cut the tusks.

he came with foreigners and tranqulized another elephant in Anuradhapura in

Nachiyaduwa in 1997 April .That animal died.

The .Workers of the Wildlife Department have reported all the incidenes to

President Chndrika Cumaratunge .Dr Atapattu was given an early retirement

by the previous government before 1994 but as Mrs Cumaratunge came to power

they allowed him work in the Department of Wild life They have allowed that

person to destroy our heritage and that Government also responsible for

employing a person who had malpractices.

Dr Atapattu was protected by a Minister who is a private elephant

owner.Luckily that minister is not a Minister any more and that vetsurgeon

is also not in the service.

There is a another senior veterinary surgeon called Jayanthi Alahakioon who

is working in the National Zoological Gardens.

.She stole a Bengoli tigers heads from the

Zoo in l988.In year 2001 she was involved in a animal parts racket and found

some animal were mysteriously dying .

She is still working in the zoo.( A judge has interfered)She was involved in a

bogus Lucky Sama Project and tried to fix an artifical limb and the present

Zoo Director who has no knowledge and was appointed (political appointment )

as a Director has allowed a German lady to collect money for that in

Germany.He was planning a

trip with the poor baby elephants to Croatia and allowed the leopards to

breed and what a mess he has done in the zoo.(We used progestegen

implants to prevent leopards from breeding in 1987.)

Zoo workers don`t want him .

Present Government should investigate the malpractices and punish these

corrupted officers.This government also has not done anything so far.
