KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 21 (Bernama) - Some 70 Timur Bakti plantation workers in Air Putih, Kemaman, are living in fear following recent sightings of tigers there. Plantation manager Hamzah Ibrahim said the workers became more worried after a tiger attacked a bull on Sept 16. " What is most worrying is the fact that the attack occurred just one kilometre from the workers' quarters, " he told Bernama today. The latest sighting was when several workers saw a tiger and two cubs roaming in the plantation yesterday, he said. Hamzah said although no one had been mauled by a tiger, the Wildlife and National Parks Department should do something before anything untoward happened. He said the presence of tigers had also forced the workers to leave for work in groups and to return home earlier. According to him, nine of the 200 cows in the 830ha private plantation had been mauled by tiger since last year. - BERNAMA IB MRA SHR YBY.
