TAMPIN, Sept 25 (Bernama) - A black leopard was shot dead early today at Kampung Jeram, near Tampin, a spokesman of the National Parks and Wil dlife Department said. He said it was shot at about 1am by a member of the Malaysian Peoples Volunteer Corps (Rela) Amir Ridwan Abdullah who was with a team of three policemen and two park wardens. They were patrolling the kampung after reports that a black leopard had been sighted near a chicken coop in the area. " It was 12.55am when suddenly our torchlights picked up the two shining eyes of the leopard just in front of us and as it was getting ready to leap at me I opened fire with my shotgun, " he said. The spokesman said the leopard, a female, measuring 75cm in length and weighing 15kilos would be sent to the Melaka Zoo. On Sept 10, trader Soh Giok Eng, 65, and an Indonesian worker Ardi Darsono, 45, were attacked by a black panther at Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan. - BERNAMA RP RP AAM.
