TARONGA ZOO'S ANIMALS LIVE IN FILTH

 

Workers at Taronga zoo are striking for a 3% pay rise by refusing to

collect animal droppings. So the animals living in totally unnatural

environments

now also have to live in their own filth so humans can get more money...

AN INVITATION TO TAKE PART IN AN IMPORTANT HISTORIC EVENT!

 

AT: The Ampol Garage site, cnr. Katoomba and Waratah Streets, Katoomba

(PROPOSED SITE FOR A McDONALD=B9S)

 

WHEN: Sunday 29 September, at 11 am

 

WHY: To take a COMMUNITY PHOTO, representing a broad cross-section of our

community who believe THE UPPER BLUE MOUNTAINS AE SPECIAL, AND SHOULD BE A

MAC-FREE ZONE!

We need artists, writers, poets, " ordinary decent people " , elderly,

middle-aged and young people, drummers, famous people, retired people,

actors, activists, infamous people (!), politicians, unemployed people,

dancers, doctors, business people, teachers, council workers, children,

parents, architects, dreamers and schemers, musicians,... etc

 

WHAT TO BRING: Yourselves and friends, plus, if you wish, banners, artwork,

green ribbons and whatever else you consider appropriate FOR THIS POWERFUL

AND IMPORTANT COMMUNITY PHOTO!

 

WHERE TO ASSEMBLE: Please assemble outside Bodds Cafe

(behind the Ampol

site), so that MAM volunteers may (if you wish) take your name and comment

before you assemble around the fence. After the photo session, participants

are encouraged to visit the cafes nearby and " have a cuppa " !

VEGAN FESTIVAL IN LONDON

 

Vegetarian Guides and 40 other vegan-run organisations and groups will

be at

the fourth UK National Vegan Festival on Sunday 29th September, 10am-5pm,

Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, Holborn, London WC1, England.

Nearest underground Holborn (Central and Piccadilly lines)

 

At 4.20pm they'll be showing the 2001 22 minute film Animal Rights,

produced by Vegetarian Guides and Innervision in association with

PETA, CAPS, LACS,

 

CIWF, ARC and Animal Aid, presented by Zofia Torun and featuring activists

Heather James and Greg Avery of SHAC, hunt sab Neil James and psychologist

Dr Richard Ryder. Also showing the hilarious 1999 World Vegan Day top 5 on

the Big Breakfast with Johnny Vaughan.

 

Also you'll be able to see the new edition of Vegetarian Britain, all 528

pages of it, and place orders. They'll be selling Campaign Against Cruelty

and the Vegetarian Guides to France, Europe, London, and new guides to

Spain and Italy. Plenty to help you plan your next holiday.

 

There will be an opportunity to visit campaigning stalls, eat tasty vegan

food, drink at the bar, listen to speakers and purchase a side range of

vegan products.

COUNTRY HOUSE-SITTER

 

Animals Australia has been contacted by someone who requires a live-in

animal attendant to mind her animals (11 cats, 1 dog and 6 chooks) whilst

she is overseas.

 

The location is in the Wimmera-Mallee area, approx. 400km from Melbourne

and

the duration will be for approximately one year, beginning early October.

 

 

In return for animal care and basic property maintenance, up to one year's

rent-free accommodation is offered.
