Guest guest
The Star Online Sunday, September 15, 2002 Leopard cat kitten caught by plantation worker MUAR: A pineapple plantation worker in Bukit Naning near Bakri mistook four kucing batu (leopard cats) for tiger cubs and tried to catch them on Sept 11. However three of the cats, comprising the mother and two kittens, managed to escape into thebushes in the plantation, but one of the kittens fell into a drain and was caught. The worker, Suradi Ahmad, 40, said the kitten, with spotted and striped fur, similar to that a tiger cub, was brought to his living quarters in the plantation. Suradi said he had asked some friends to inform the Wildlife and National Parks Department about the kitten and wanted to surrender it, adding that he did not want to release it in the plantation. He said the kitten, now being kept in a birdcage, was young and could fall prey to bigger animals or hunters. Suradi has been feeding it with scrambled eggs daily. He said he dared not keep the kitten as a pet because it was " ferocious " and would try to bite whenever approached.
