" The point is tigers must not be in Kelantan anymore. They are better off dead. I agree that they should be shot for there is no use in keeping them alive, " he said. > > However, Aziz's clarification of his earlier statements came under immediate fire from the international tiger advocacy and conservation group, TigerAid. " As long as tigers and people continue to compete for space and sustenance, human-tiger conflicts will continue not to mention aggravate existing problems caused by illegal poaching and trade and the consumption of wildlife meat served in Malaysian restaurants, " stated Richard Birchard, Executive Director of TigerAid. > > " Being one of the few countries where tigers live naturally, Malaysia has a moral obligation and responsibility to the world community to ensure that they do not contribute to the extinction of an endangered species. Management solutions, such as compensation, livestock protection and management and developing alternative livelihoods, are far better solutions. " > > The organization is seeking one million signatures on a petition to the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Malaysia, calling for a halt to any shoot-to-kill orders on the endangered species. The organization uses the Internet to empower people from around the world to take action in saving and protecting the worlds' remaining tiger populations.
