& #8216;Breeding & #8217; mission for tiger

MALACCA: The tiger recently captured in Kelantan will have a mission at the

Malacca Zoo after it is rehabilitated.

It will be used to father cubs.

Veterinary officer Dr Razeem Mazlan Abdullah, who gave the tiger 12 stitches

for the 17.5cm wound on its head, said there were several tigresses in the zoo

which could be matched with this tiger.

“We will see which is compatible and whether they show affection for each other

when placed together,” he said.

This will take place after the rehabilitation programme in which the

10-year-old tiger, weighing 100kg, would be isolated for six months.

During rehabilitation, it would also be de-wormed, given vaccination and other

necessary treatment before being placed on the captive breeding programme, Dr

Razeem Mazlan said.
