Boycott tiger, wildlife meat, public urged

KUALA LUMPUR: World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia (WWF) called on Malaysians to

boycott meat from tigers and other wildlife served in restaurants.

Its executive director Datuk Dr Mikaail Kavanagh Abdullah said WWF was aware

that restaurants in Puchong, Cameron Highlands, Grik and close to the Sultan

Abdul Aziz Shah airport in Subang were serving wildlife meat.

& #147;This is just the tip of the iceberg. Animals on offer include leopards,

monkeys, bears and fruit bats. Tigers are rarities on most menus, but they too

end up in cooking pots, & #148; he said in a statement here yesterday.

The public, he said, could make an immediate report to the Department of

Wildlife & amp; National Parks, police, traffic office or WWF Malaysia. & #151;
