She also had 17 stitches in her chin. -- SIN CHEW DAILY/ASIA NEWS NETWORK Bowling instructor Chen Meiling, 51, said she had been walking with her husband on Sunday night when a group of monkeys blocked their way and growled at them. She tried to avoid the monkeys but they had continued to chase her, she said in hospital. In a state of panic, she started to run but tripped and fell face-down. The monkeys began attacking her before her husband and passers-by chased them away. She required 17 stitches in her chin and suffered injuries to her right eye, hands and legs. Two teeth fell out and she had to undergo surgery to adjust her lower jawbone. 'The authorities should find ways to control the monkeys so as not to endanger the safety of tourists visiting the gardens,' she said. Gardens director Lin Wenzhong urged visitors to avoid direct eye contact when encountering 'ferocious monkeys'. They should also refrain from feeding the monkeys. --Sin Chew Daily/Asia News Network
