Help Stop Bird Smuggling in Indonesia

Recently, KSBK ( " Indonesian Conservation for Life " , an undercover

investigative organization) released its shocking expose of bird trapping,

smuggling, and sale from Indonesia.

The story is permeated by corruption at very high levels (including the

Military). Nonetheless, there is evidence that the current President of

Indonesia (Megawati Soekarno Putri) and the Forestry Department have begun

to clamp down on illegal trapping of birds and other animals. In the past,

pressure, even from individuals , has had discernible effects on Indonesian

officials, including past presidents. Therefore, a petition was started to

urge the President and the Minister of the Forestry Department to enforce

existing laws to stop the illegal capture and export (or use as pets) of

wild birds.

I urge you to sign the petition. All that is required is filling in 3 boxes!

No forwarding or letter writing is required. However, I would ask you to

disseminate this message far and wide, and in as many countries as possible

so that widespread international support is evident.

The petition can be easily accessed at:

Thank you for helping the wondrous and unique birds of Indonesia!

Cheers!
