Guest guest
Hi, I was disgusted to read of China's new involvement in breeding beagles for animal experimentation and saw a mention of the WHO in this cruel industry. Is it possible this centre is opening because of the difficulty in international AR activists in accessing and demonstrating outside such a place? Who can we write to in protest at this latest abomination and abuse of dogs as research subjects for scientific testing? This facility deserves its own " Opposed to facility for breeding beagles in China for experiments " campaign and web site! Kind regards, Marguerite

International activists parachuting in to demonstrate would be unlikely to help. What is needed is development of the Chinese animal welfare/rights movement. This is beginning but there is a long way to go. In the meantime what international activists should do is write polite, thoughtful letters to the Chinese Ambassador in their own country. And support organisations with a presence in China such as Animals Asia Foundation: http://www.animalsasia.org/ and IFAW: http://www.ifaw.org/ By the way - I have visited this company's current facility and it is indeed awful.
