Guest guest
l8th of June Rajagiriya Dog named ~Chuti ~owned by a photographer Wedasinghe was sitting in front of the house. She was a beautiful female and every body loved that dog.I injected depo-provera injection few months ago . She was siezed by the dog catching van of Kotte Municipal council.Few hours later the owner came and the people who had seen that informed him .He went to the Municipal and inquired from the Public health Veterinary section he was told that the dog was taken to a place in Nugegoda. He rushed to that place and there he was told that the dog was taken to another place in Kotte. The body of the dog was not given to the owner. I received about that incidence on the 25th of June and I was told the Public health Veterinary serviceshas mentioned in the news that there are incidences of Rabies in the Island. ..I wasted many hours calling the authorities to get the number of rabies cases reported in Kotte. I was told that no rabies cases were reported in Kotte Municipal limitin 2002. I called the veterinary surgeon of Kotte and she told me that she ordered them to kill the dogs after 2 hours. Then I said I want to see the body of the animal as we suspected that they have sold dogs for meat. Then she replied that she can`t provide workers to dog the ground. I told her that according to the rabies ordinance person has to keep the dog for 2 days and on the third day animal could be destroyed. Then she told me that she know the law and asked me to take legal action. The owner is depressed and doesn`t want to go to the police. We strongly suspect that the Municipal is supplying these dogs for Koreans or giving them to some butchers who will sell them for meat to unsuspecting consumers World society for protection of animals and Kacpaw has helped the cruel Public health Veterinary Services P.A.LHarischandra by allowing him to be a key player in Wspa conference which would be held in September in Sri Lanka for theInternational Conference on Humane stray dog control for the Effective eradication of rabies in Sri lanka. " Now he is taking revenge from me by killing dogs for exposing his cruel methods. We can look after our animals in Sri Lanka and we don`t need the help of WSPA.I will not consider WSPA as a animal welfare organisation and I am surprised that WSPA still want to have him as a speaker for the conference after we have exposed him. Foe me WSPA is World Society for Protection of animal abusers
