re UK restrictions on sales of pets in pet shops

Hi All,

 

Regarding the sale of pets in pet shops being banned or restricted

in the UK, Carole emailed me " I understand that children (under 16?) can't

(or will not be

able to, when legislation takes effect) buy pets in the UK, but not the good

news that you report.I would be interested to know as well. "

 

Is this new legislation in the UK and is it Animal Welfare legislation?

 

Any information much appreciated (I would love to see the sale

of pets from pet shops stopped as I believe it is too easy to buy

a pet and there are too many impulse buys of animals resulting

in abandonment and pet shops also encourage the pet breeding industry).
