Guest guest
Zoo signs up pandas for £2 million a year China is loaning two pandas to a Thai zoo for 10 years at a price of £2 million a year. The money will be used by China to fund research on the endangered animals. A new home will be provided for the pair at Chiang Mai Zoo. There are only 17 pandas in captivity outside China, reports The Nation. The Zoological Parks Organisation will be responsible for the two-year-old female and male pandas upkeep. Money to feed and maintain the pandas will be made by selling tickets to adults to watch the pandas. Children will be able to see the pandas for free. ZPO governor Phisit na Phatthalung said there were about 1,000 pandas in China. Of these, 140 are in zoos.
