1. Kyenan's Report from Korea

Kyenan's recent trip to Korea was disappointing. Despite Korean government

promises to clean up the Moran market, the biggest dogmeat market in South

Korea, there has been no change in any of the illegal sale of dogs, cats and

other live animals. The main purpose of Kyenan's trip was to help the

Australian ABC film a documentary on the dogmeat trade. It will be

broadcast nationwide in Australia in May, with a satellite feed to 55

additional countries.

2. New York Demonstration Announcement

DEMONSTRATION ALERT

Where: Korean Cultural Center, 460 Park Avenue @ 57th Street,

New York, NY 10022

Korean Consulate Email: info

Greg Horak, IAKA NY Representative: lonecanislupus

Please join International Aid for Korean Animals (IAKA) and animal activists

from throughout the greater NYC area to protest the illegal dog and cat meat

trade that flourishes today in South Korea.

More than 2 million dogs and cats are tortured and slaughtered in South

Korea every year. Scores of Korean men believe that consuming the flesh of

tortured animals will enhance virility. Prominent scientists have publicly

denounced the " benefits " of eating dog and cat meat, and furthermore, dog

meat soup and cruelty to animals are illegal under current South Korean law.

3. Australian Demonstration Update and Announcement

This report is from the IAKA/KAPS representative in Sydney, Australia.

The Sydney branch of IAKA/KAPS is holding one demonstration a month in the

lead up to the World Cup.

The first demonstration was held on Wednesday, the 27th of February outside

the Korean

Consulate in Sydney during the CBD's lunchtime. Chanting, " Shame, shame,

Korea's the one to blame, " and " It's not culture, it's illegal, " 60 people

and 8 dogs attracted lots of attention and support. We handed out over 800

IAKA " How you can help " leaflets and collected petitions. It was a huge news

day for the Media so we only got two radio interviews but hopefully we'll

get more coverage next time. At one point three business men in suits

eating their lunch nearby came up to us, grabbed a placard and started

marching with us!

UPCOMING DEMONSTRATIONS IN SYDNEY:

When: Wednesday, March 27 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Wednesday, April 24 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Wednesday, May 22 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Where: Outside the Korean Consulate, 32 Martin Pl., Sydney,

Australia

" Chollima's Arirang "

" When I realized the atrocities being perpetrated against dogs and cats in

South Korea, I responded with a 1/2 hour of poetic justice on their behalf.

Won't you take this heartwrenching journey with me? "
