Guest guest
To anyone trying to get people involved in bringing about change by asking people to petition the decision makers and law makers via e-mail, it does work - it's not a wasted effort. However I can not stress enough that if you provide people with a ready-made letter (which they can alter / or not, as they see fit) and a bunch of e-mail addresses to e-mail it to you will get a lot more people to participate. It's not that people don't care but for most people it's a time factor - despite people's best intentions if it requires too much time/effort it won't get done. May I suggest that you do the work for them (i.e write a short succinct letter and get all the e-mail addresses together for them) and then ask them to make up the numbers and back your message up by forwarding 'the message' on to the addresses you've provided. The people in the power positions (i.e. those able to bring about the changes and help the animals or change the laws etc.) don't care if they get the same letter over and over again - to them it's a numbers game. How large is the public outcry - how many people are behind the common message. That's really all that counts. Incidentally the site with the photos re. the dogmeat trade are here and if you are not sure whether you want to petition against the dogmeat trade or not and need some convincing have a look at this..... http://compassionatetraveler.org/dogmeattrade.htm Good luck with your petition, Best regards Nikki Green - <protectionglw <aapn > Thursday, February 14, 2002 11:49 PM re.Greyhound export Asia > Hi, > I was sent the following by Animals Australia after asking for their > assistance in stopping the export of greyhound to Vietnam,Korea etc. They > have shown great concern and have initiated action.
