Guest guest
Scientists grow artificial eyeballs From AAP 05jan02 JAPANESE scientists have succeeded in growing artificial eyeballs. Reports say the researchers based at Tokyo University have grown eyeballs for tadpoles -- using cells taken from frog embryos. The researchers say they have transplanted one eyeball into a tadpole -- and a week later it is still connected to the optic nerves and there have been no rejection symptoms. And they say the world-first in frogs could lead to the creation of artificial human eyeballs to restore sight to the blind in the future.
