Guest guest
China Daily December 13 2001 SICHUAN Seafood traders were found to be pouring human urine into water tanks to keep shrimps alive in some bazaars of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, reports Sina.com. Shrimps and crabs die within a few hours of being released into tanks unless they have oxygen-generating equipment. Human urine helps the shrimps and crabs to stay alive for at least a day. Many vendors were found to be using urine to cut costs. Health experts have urged people to buy aquatic products only from big markets because urine, apart from being disgusting, is harmful to human health.
