Guest guest
Dear Friends, I need information on air conditioning for chicken farms. In Malaysia, the Menteri Besar of Negri Sembilan, one of the 13 states in Malaysia, has announced in the media that from next year all chicken farms will have to be air cond. to prevent smell and dust pollution and to prevent houseflies from settling in on the chicken droppings. There have been complaints from residents living some distance away from the chicken farms that an unbearable stench permeates the air whenever there is strong wind. My questions are a) will air conditioning affect the health of the birds b) can chickens withstand the cool air cond air at night Bear in mind that Malaysia is a humid country with plenty of rain at certain months and these chickens are normally bred for their meat and eggs similar to the battery farming of chickens in the West. The birds here are not free ranging and several hundreds are confined under one long shed with zinc roofing. Any other information with regard to the above questions are appreciated. This is a new concept and I wish to highlight the problems posed to the birds in the media. Grateful for any information given.
