Guest guest
China Daily - 20th November 2001 http://www1.chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2001-11-20/44346.html CHONGQING Three generations of goats cloned from the embryonic cells of an Angora goat are on display at the ongoing Chongqing New and High-tech Trade Fair. This is the first time in China that cloned goats are being displayed at a high-tech trade fair, said Fan Lijun, an official of the Keyuan Bio-engineering Co which carried out the cloning. The goats, named Lulu, Shanshan and Nana, are third-, fourth- and fifth-generation clones and are among 45 goats cloned by the company's chairman of the board, Professor Zhang Yong, from the Northwest China University of Agriculture, Forestry, Science and Technology. As the three goats are identical, they cannot be easily distinguished. Fan told visitors that the goat with thicker and longer horns is older. Fan said her company is looking for a Chongqing partner in goat cloning and embryonic transplanting.
