Guest guest
http://www.asahi.com/english/national/K2001101200401.html Robot canines to lead the blind The Asahi Shimbun Prototype robot ``guide dogs'' will debut in Yamanashi Prefecture later this year in an experiment to help the visually impaired get around in hospitals. The robots were designed by Hideo Mori, 63, an engineering professor at Yamanashi University, with assistance from private companies. The robots are programmed to ``remember'' the owner's route using a navigational information system like those installed in cars. The robot will be able to recognize sidewalks and warning lines and avoid obstacles using a video camera and sensors that can register car shadows and pedestrians. The exterior design of the robot was the work of Musashino Art University. Twenty experimental guide dogs will be produced this year and used in trials at hospitals in Yamanashi Prefecture. Mori hopes the robots will be in general use in four years. (10/12) Make a great connection at Personals. http://personals.
