Dear list,

This is not exactly an Asian issue but I thought some

Sorry, John, if I'm violating the posting rule.

World Leader Acknowledges Cruelty at University of

Wisconsin

In a letter to the Primate Freedom Project by the

Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the world

leader has acknowledged that a top researcher

at the University of Wisconsin is engaged in cruel

experimentation on animals.

" His Holiness was not aware that Dr. Kalin was

involved in conducting tests on animals that were

painful and extremely cruel, " wrote Tenzin Geyche

Tethong of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The University of Wisconsin, and researchers

experimenting on monkeys at the Wisconsin Regional

Primate Research Center have courted Buddhist

leaders through the HealthEmotions Research Institute

and the Center for Research on Mind-Body Interactions

at the University of Wisconsin,Madison.

[see: <http://www.mindandlife.org/conf01.html>]

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., <jon.kabat-zinn a

leader of the American Buddhist movement was contacted

last year and informed of the experiments being

performed at WRPRC. He failed to respond.

Please write to the Office of His Holiness the Dalai

Lama and express your appreciation of His Holiness'

concern for the suffering of all beings.
