Guest guest
APPLE DAILY - Hong Kong - September 2001 http://appledaily.atnext.com/adotpl/lifemagindex.cfm?article_id=549269 & main_ section_id=38168 " Monkey Brain Eating " " Some restaurants in a " Food Street " at Ping Shang City, Guangxi Province near the border between China and Vietnam promote " Eating Monkey Brain Alive " to attract customers. Those restaurants sell a monkey for HK$380. There were 2-3 monkeys in a cage. Whilst the customers were picking their monkey, the others in the cage were trying to push one of them out in order to keep themselves alive. The cook will force feed the monkey with rice wine until it is drunk. Then he will tie the monkey's limbs together, chop the skull off and put the whole monkey in a large bowl to serve. Customers then scoop out the raw monkey brain with spoons and the rest of the body will be cooked. Ancient Chinese people were fond of eating rare/wild animals such as bear (paw), camel (hump), leopard (unborn cub), elephant (nose), deer (tail), gorilla (lip), and swallow (nest). They though after stimulating the animal it will taste better. They usually obtain those parts of the animal with cruel methods, such as putting the paw of a bear on a very hot plate before cutting it off whilst the bear is still alive. Hunting, killing and dealing with monkeys in mainland China is subject to a sentence of 5-10 years imprisonment. "
