ADMH news - More powerful sanction against the 'sick' professor

Dear Friends of Animals,

For the past several days, many animal friends sent protest emails and

letters to Professor Hum-Dai Park regarding ongoing development of a

specialized breed of dogs strictly raised as food, called 'super dog'.

We, ADMH (Anti-Dogmeat Movement Headquarters) would like to thank you for

your efforts on behalf of animals. Despite out efforts, Professor Park is

still continuing this disgusting and barbaric experiment of artificially

inseminated " super dogs to torture and use them for meat.

If he doesn¡¯t discontinue this unacceptable artificial insemination, we

better pressure chancellor of Taegu University where he teaches. In Korea,

chancellors take a strong influencing power to professors in the university.

Also we should prosecute this issue to the International Food Science &

Human Nutrition Associations and Organizations (reference page:

http://www.lib.msu.edu/science/food.htm ) to take part in talks to amend the

existing legislation.

If we don¡¯t stop it now, a certain number of Koreans will never be

satisfied with dogs as big as Saint Bernards or Pit bulls, and they will

continue to attempt to breed dogs that are as big as cows.

One needs to take this opportunity to introduce and mandate Koreans to the

International ethical standards on animals.

When you send letters or emails, please attach the following article about

the ¡®super dog¡¯, so that receivers know the epitome of this issue.

[Fertilized Egg on Sale " by Hyundai Animal Artificial Insemination Lab]

As the peak season for the Korean Traditional Dog based food approaches, the

prices on dogs are increasing as the experimental artificially inseminated

" super dogs " are created.

According to Jung, Deok Soo (age 42) who's the Director of 'Hyundai Animal

Artificial Insemination Lab', recently, sperm from a large-sized dog was

artificially inseminated into five female dogs.

The dog meat is sold around 7000 won (roughly about $5,50), hence when dog

as big as Shepard is artificially bred, then the dog farm can expect to get

an increased income of 150,000 to 200,000 won (roughly about $116.70 to

$155.60) per dog.

The artificial insemination has not been attempted until recently due to the

fact that when compared with cows and pigs, it is difficult to preserve the

dog's sperm intact and the insemination procedure into the bitch's vagina is

extremely delicate.

Such obstacles were solved by utilizing Dr. Park's sperm freezing method and Chung's " Abdominal Stimulation " insertion method. Since a Dog's

impregnation period is only two months long, it is expected

that the income derived from the artificial insemination procedure will

increase significantly.

Dr. Park and Director Chung succeeded in giving birth to a Korean calf by

artificial insemination to a cow in January of 1998 in the village of Keum

Sung in the district of Eui Sung.

¡°If the artificial insemination is successful for the Korean traditional

dog based food's dogs, then eventually the procedure will be applied to

ameliorating the pedigree of household pet dogs " , said Director Chung.
