Guest guest
The Malaysian National Animal Welfare Foundation, together with the Education Ministry, has selected four schools to participate in its programme to educate children on the keeping of pets. Set up three years ago, the foundation's aim is to educate the public on pet ownership and create awareness on animal welfare. Its other objectives include disseminating information on animal welfare to the public, schools and community groups. Spaying and neutering is another aspect they have to tackle. They plan to hold dialogues, at least once or twice a year with the local councils and religious bodies to discuss animal ownership. This way, various aspects pertaining to pet ownership can be addressed. The Foundation is working at changing people's attitude towards animals. The Selangor Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has no idea what's keeping middle income pet owners away from spaying their pets. The society had introduced its spaying campaign in October last year where pet owners from the lower-income bracket could get their pets spayed for so much cheaper than if they were to go to private vet clinics. But the spaying campaign receives poor response. _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
