Tourism article mentions Doomed dogs in Vietnam markets

The Australian Magazine (A weekly colour lift-out from the Australian

newspaper)

published a travel feature titled 24 Asian getaways by Susan Kurosawa

(Issue July 21, 2001)

Under item 20 in the list of places to see and where to go

the following description appeared of visiting the bazaar in Vietnam.

 

" Bazaar tales but true: To feel the throbbing pulse of the Asian city,

head for the market - but avoid the " puppy lanes " in Vietnam full of doomed

dogs. " The article goes on to write about fruit and veg etc.

 

It is interesting to see the dog meat trade

being mentioned in mainstream Aistralian tourism reporting

even if only a passing comment is made about the issue.
