The Malta Times:-

The gift presented to Prof. de Marco consists of a chariot drawn by four

horses and steered by a valiant-looking charioteer wearing a hat and bearing

a sword, crossbow and arrows.

The back of the chariot was to be used by the Emperor Qin Shihuang`s soul to

go out and inspect his army in the afterlife. The bronze chariot is

considered to be the crown jewel of the relics unearthed from the emperor`s

mausoleum............

In his reply President Jiang said: " We have every reason to conclude that

China and Malta are all-weather friends that have withstood the test of

time " .

Mr Jiang will today be meeting Dr Fenech Adami and Labour leader Alfred

Sant.

He is the second president of China to visit Malta. Li Xiannian visited

Malta for five days in November, 1984.
