PFA rescues wildlife in raids.

A. Parakeets from Astrologers:

Volunteers of PFA, with the help of the Police and Forest

Departments, raided astrologers and tarot card readers in

Goruguntepalya, near Peenya early Sunday morning, and rescued 26

parakeets from them.

 

The raid started at around 6.30AM. PFA volunteers along with

officials of Forest Department and the Poilce, raided each house

in a slum colony inhabited by many astrologers. Each house was

checked and all the birds were confiscated. The astrologers were

at their wits end, as this was a totally unexpected raid at a

time they did not expect it.

 

The birds were cramped into small cages and did not even have

space to turn around or free their wings.

The birds were immediately taken to our rescue and

rehabilitation center at Kengeri and are being looked after

there.

 

 

B. Snakes, mongoose, scorpions, etc:

 

Volunteers of PFA, with the help of the Police and Forest

Department, conducted a series of raids in Hoskote, K.R Puram,

R.T Nagar and surrounding areas and rescued 25 snakes (including

2 buff striped keelbacks with 6 eggs), 20 scorpions, 2

mongooses, a partridge, bird traps, etc.

 

It was an uphill task for us with most of the residents in a

violent mood and ready to attack us. But then our reasoning that

what they did was against the law and the help of the Police

depts helped us conduct the raids successfully.

 

All the animals rescued were in a pathetic shape and were taken

immediately to our shelter in Kengeri.
