CHANGCHUN

Two pairs of adult black bears, raised in captivity, have been freed back

into the Jingouling Wildlife Reserve in Northeast China's Jilin Province

recently. The event, sponsored by the forest departments of Beijing and

Wangqing County in Jilin, was to promote people's awareness about wild life.

Years of effort have turned the reserve, 16,000 hectares in area, into a

paradise for animals, which are increasing in number and diversity. People

can now occasionally see leopards and bears that were rarely seen in the

past.
