URGENT PLEA TO UN TO STOP

JAPAN SADISTIC WHALING !!! ( 6/11/2001)

 

 

Dear Caring friend ,

 

As you may know the IWC is meeting in a few weeks in London

and we have received the disturbing news that Japan is gaining

momentum towards approval of the Revised Management Scheme.

Please, let's write to the UN urgently to plea for stopping

Japanese and Norwegian whaling and stop RMS (Revised

Management Scheme) to legalize the commercial whaling.

 

We enclosed the following items for you :

Dear United Nation ,

 

I'm writing to you urgently to request that UN Sanctions Japan's so

called " scientific " whaling and its attempts to lift the ban on

commercial whaling at the International Whaling Commission (IWC)

meeting in July, 2001 in London this year as well as Norwegian

large scale illegal whaling activities.

 

Japan continues to expand killing of whales despite international

protests. Japan just returned on April, 2001 this year with killing of

440 endangered whales in the Antarctic Whale " Sanctuary " , Japan

now hurriedly went out on May 11, 2001 to kill another 160 Sperm,

Bryde and Minke whales in the North Pacific Ocean right now.

Norwegian whalers also departed on May 14 , 2001 to kill 549 minke

whales in North Atlantic ocean for its annual kill . Japan and Norway

are killing more than one thousand whales each year. The sea is full of

blood and whales' excruciating pain, thrashing and crying now.....

 

Japan has been defying the will of the world since IWC ban on commercial

whaling came into effect in 1986. International Whaling Commission(IWC),

a whalers' club, does NOT correct its loopholes of killing whales under

the execuse of " science " . Japan kills whales in the name of " Science "

and sells whales meat for commercial profits. IWC also allows members

to officially " object " to the convention's provisions, and to then use

those objections to ignore the intent of the majority members. Norway

has filed an " objection " with the IWC's commercial whaling ban, and

continues to kill massive number of whales in defiance of the

whaling ban. (see Reference # 2 )

 

Japan is currently pushing forward with a strategy to lift the ban on

commercial whaling that includes buying up votes from Caribbean island

countries and countries in Africa at the IWC and blocking sanctuary

proposals from other commission members. (see Reference # 4, ).

 

For example reports from the Caribbean said a humpback whale calf

was killed there in early March this year in order to entrap its mother,

at the encouragement of Japan to kill. WDCS says that St Vincent

has received millions of dollars from Japan in the last decade. The

money was paid to secure St Vincent's support for Japan in the

IWC to resume the Commercial whaling. Please also see the photo

Japan is also the world's biggest killer of Dolphins. Each year from

October to April is Japanese killing dolphin season. Please click

Japan is steadily killing its coastal cetacean populations to extinction.

Japanese fishery industry has severely depleted, in sequence, populations

of striped dolphins, pilot whales, beaked whales, and Dall's porpoise.

 

The IWC will meet in London (July 2001). On the table are a series of

proposals to re-introduce legalized COMMERCIAL WHALING .

If those proposals adopted, it would condone Japan and Norway's

existing commercial whaling and also allow other countries to start.

 

We are urgently requesting the United Nations to :

 

1: Please Sanction Japan and Norwegian pirate whaling activities now.

(see Reference # 5, 6, 7 )

 

2: Please form a " POLICE " enforcement entity to protect all whales in

the International waters which is shared and owned by all nations

globally. The IWC, a " Whalers club " , does not have Enforcement

power to stop any country's whaling activity . All whales are

endangered under the Convention on the International Trade in

Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In 1983,

Minke whales were also included in Appendix I of the CITES.

 

3: Please dissolve the IWC and take over the responsibility to protect

whales in international waters. Since Japan has been using " money " to

buy and bribe most of the votes in IWC from Caribbean island countries

and countries in Africa to vote in favor of Japanese " commercial

whaling " attempts in IWC. Therefore , the IWC virtually has lost its

meaning to protect whales. It is now become the most important tool

for JAPAN to resume the world commercial whaling. This coming IWC

July meeting is going to vote on RMS(Revised Management Scheme)

and RMP (Revised Management Procedure) which are simply another

name for " legalized commercial whaling " . All countries must strongly

OPPOSE these dangerous procedures to legalize the Commercial

whaling worldwide. (please see Reference # 10 ).

 

4: Please form an important " International ANTI-Whaling Commission "

to counter the illegal whaling activities from all of the countries in

IWC especially the Japan and Norway as well as the whaling

countries outside of IWC.

 

 

The IWC used to be the member countries who killed whales in the

past. But the time is changed. The world is changed. While facing the

endangered species after species disappeared especially the depleted

whales, every country in the world now has the responsibility to protect

every international waters which is shared and owned by all countries.

The oceans do not belong to Japan and Norway privately.

The oceans are not Japan and Norway's territory.

 

Japan is raping , murdering and stealing the " oceans " from all of the

other countries. This reminds us the Japanese invasion in World War

II 70 years ago. Due to its limited resources, Japan invaded. In 1931

Japan invaded Manchuria, a northeastern region of China. For the next

sixteen (16) years, the Japanese army ruthlessly killed more than

THIRTY FIVE(35) MILLION Chinese people, a majority of them

civilians(96%). There is no any country ever killed another country

with this figure. However, the number of people killed is not the most

astounding part of the war. It was the manner in which these people

died that was most unimaginable. " ...all the men in the Mission were

lined up as live 'dummies' for Japanese bayonet practice. " . " Neither

Hiroshima nor Jewish Holocaust can rival the Nanjing Massacre " .

It was truly the Holocaust of Holocausts in the history of mankind.

 

Again, for the same reasons, Japan knows it can not invade other

countries for now, instead, they invade the international waters by

ruthlessly killing numerous of the world's largest, peaceful, sentient

animals ! The sea is filled with blood. The human violence and

animal cruelty are usually linked together. The Japanese Government

and its Emperor's sadistic cruel nature is now seen again.

They want to show to the world that they are bigger than Whales!
