The virus was found in two samples taken from five geese imported from the mainland, the Macau Government Information Bureau said early today. A spokesman said poultry imports from the mainland would initially be suspended for one week. The virus was detected during a routine inspection of local poultry markets by the Macau Health Bureau on Friday. The cull will include poultry on the islands of Taipa and Coloane. Compensation will be paid.
