Chinese Cat Market Query

So the police allegedly raided that cat market...what effect can this

possibly have if it is not illegal in China to sell cats for consumption,

and the practice is so wide spread? I am confused on how Chinese police got

the authority to shut down the market, why they did it, and what effect it

will have...Anybody know????

Dear Kelly, we're trying to ascertain the answer to this and other

questions

raised as a result of the closure - including where the animals are.

 

In relation to the action itself, I believe it was in response to a meeting

we

had with Chinese officials and are following up to see how things can be

progressed.

 

In that context, it's a very small step in the right direction, but needs a

lot

more work and encouragement to get things to the stage where welfare

legislation

can be implemented and action taken across the board.
