Guest guest
Hi! Thanks to many compassionate people and organisations from different nations, the world has become increasingly aware over the last few years of the horrific suffering of dogs who are used for food. I have played my own small part in this through keeping the website for the Asian Animal Protection Network: http://www.aapn.org/fooddogs.html The Animals Asia Foundation - http://www.animalsasia.org/ - has, of course, been very interested in this issue and their strategy so far has been to raise respect for dogs by promoting Dr Dog and Detective Dog programmes in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and Korea. They have also carried out investigations on dog slaughter in China, Korea and Vietnam. But AAF feels that there must be more that can be done than has been done until now. They have asked me to investigate the subject and come up with a plan that could co-ordinate efforts and make some real progress. At the moment there is no doubt that dog eating is becoming more and more popular - we must find some way to reverse this. A lot of work, spearheaded by KAPS - http://www.koreananimals.org/ - has been put into the Korean abuses - but the problem is far more widespread than just one country. I should be very interested to hear your thoughts and ideas. I should also be very grateful for any web references, old articles, etc - particularly ones that refer to specific places that we could check out and document. I wonder if anyone kept copies of the webpages at: http://www.china.org.cn/AcrossCountry/Shanxi_w/english/ensbn/index.htm and: http://www.chinashaoxing.com/Cooperat/Items/eSX_44.htm - they are no longer accessible.
