A letter to President Clinton (USA)

Dear President Clinton,

I realise that you are the outgoing President of the USA but I

would like to appeal to you to take action against the terrible

cruelty inflicted on millions of animals in the USA every day.

I recently received a video from the USA showing the barbaric

and cruel deaths of pigs, goats, sheep and cows in an abattoir

in the USA. I watched in horror as the most beautiful animals were

shot through the head with a bolt gun and then had chains attached to their

legs

while they were hauled up into the air. Several times the slaughterman

missed shooting them in the right part of the head and he had to shoot them

again because they were still kicking. Some of the pigs huddled in the

corner

as they watched their little mates shot in front of them. This truly made me

want to cry. Pigs are highly intelligent animals as shown in the film

" Babe " .

Some of the animals were still conscious during their slaughter.

I watched the slaughterman cut their throats and gallons of blood

washed down into a drain hole. Then the slaughterman cut out their insides

and started to saw them up. The slaughterman had to hose away

a lot of the blood as the animals were dismembered.

I urge you and your family to declare meat eating as an evil habit that is

causing barbaric cruelty to animals and ill-health to the people who eat the

animal's flesh.

Please help stop this cruelty now. People will listen to you so please take

action now.

I hope you are also aware that the promotion of meat eating in the rest of

the world by American based fast food companies is contributing to ill

health in the countries concerned. I have never seen so many people eating

highly processed, fatty junk food

as is happening in my country now. People in Australia are becoming

increasingly obese as the computer promoted sedentary lifestyle and

unhealthy fast foods create a nightmare for health professionals. The

promotion of meat eating in

countries like Australia is also ruining the environment as huge amounts of

bush and rainforest are cleared every minute of every day to make more

pasture for grazing meat animals! Our native animals are dying along with

the bush.

Please show the rest of the world that the USA is not the cruel and barbaric

place for animals as shown on my USA slaughterhouse video. Please endorse

vegetarianism

as the best path for the USA and the rest of the world to follow into the

new century.

Kind regards,

Marguerite Wegner

Good letter, Marguerite! Did you know Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, is a

vegetarian? We could insert that fact somewhere in the letter (for more

weightage), I guess!
