The animals went through quarantine at Fukuoka airport Wednesday morning, accompanied by Yasushi Kiriyama, a breeder at the Itozu Yuen zoo, which closed in May. " I hope they will soon adjust to the new environment, " Kiriyama said, adding that he will later go to China to check up on the animals. The zoo, now owned by a local railway company, will be transferred to the Kitakyushu municipal government and will reopen in April 2002 as a park.
