These were easy and quick to make and went well with a corn chowder. I posted

this recipe on eat-lf but this version is formatted for mastercook.

Cranberry Walnut Scones

 

Recipe By : Adpated by Hanneman 1999

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons light brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter -- slivered

1/4 cup dried moist cranberries (or fresh)

2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

1/2 cup buttermilk

FOR THE TOPPING:

1/2 tablespoon skim milk

sugar (optional)

 

Preheat oven to 425. Spray baking sheet with cooking spray. In large bowl stir

together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. But in butter. Stir in

cranberries and walnuts. Make a well in center and stir in buttermilk. Dough

should be sticky. Pat into 5 " round. Cut into fourths. Place wedges on baking

sheet. Brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar (if using). Bake for 14 to 16

minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cold.
