Guest guest Posted November 6, 2002 Report Share Posted November 6, 2002 Israeli Falafel -- Ingredients 1 cup chickpeas (garbanzo beans) 3 Tablespoons bulgur or wheatmeal 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon cumin 1 Tablespoon coriander (or 2 Tablespoons fresh, chopped fine) 2 Tablespoons flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon white pepper Directions 1 - Soak chickpeas in water for 8 hours. Drain and grind. 2 - Soak bulgur or substitute in water for 2 hours. Drain and grind. 3 - Mix all ingredients together. 4 - Form into patties or balls about 3/4 " diameter. 5 - Fry patties until golden brown (or deep fry balls). 6 - Serves with chapatis or pita bread with dressing of choice. Suggestions - sandwich spread -or- hummus, tahini sauce, or tomatoes-cucumber-parsley-lemon juice salad. Note: It is possible to use canned chick peas, but it is not as good.
