Guest guest Posted October 9, 2002 Report Share Posted October 9, 2002 BASIC GLUTEN RECIPE 2 1/2 cups vital wheat gluten flour Suggested seasonings: 1 tsp. salt 1/2 cup nutritional yeast (powder or flakes) 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp garlic powder In a large bowl, stir together, then quickly add 2 cups warm strained broth. Knead quickly together until mixed. It will be rubbery. BROTH: 10 cups water 1/4 cup nutritional yeast 1/2 cup soy sauce (Bragg's Amino Acids) 1 tsp basil 1 Tbs. salt 1 cup chopped onion 2 tsp onion powder 1 or 2 garlic cloves, chopped 2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp liquid hickory smoke (if desired) Cut gluten dough with wet serrated knife, or cut with kitchen shears into 1/2 inch slabs. Drop into boiling broth, and cook for 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. Use steaks for grilling, barbequing, or slice thinly and sauté for fajitas. ===== Language is an expression of thought.
