Guest guest Posted January 8, 2002 Report Share Posted January 8, 2002 Savory Red Beans 4 cups small red beans (pink or pinto may also be used) 1 cup tomato sauce 9 cups water 1/4 cup green pepper, diced 2 medium onions, diced 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. each: dill, oregano, basil, celery salt, paprika 2 tsp. salt 1. Crock Pot Method: Wash beans well, drain, add all ingredients, and place in pot 18 - 20 hours. To speed up the cooking time, boil the water first before placing it in the crockpot. 2. Stove-top method: Soak beans overnight. Drain off the soaking water and cover with new water and all the ingredients. Cook for 3 - 4 hours.
