Guest guest
Hello everyone-was on holiday and walked into a cornish real ale festival on Tresco, Isles of Scilly. I was talking to a guy from Skinners ales about vegan beer and organic ale. Now my dad owns a pub, and he was always saying how most people don't use stuff like isinglass anymore (but I think that was to get me to drink the beer- but I'm not a huge beer fan anyway). The guy from the brewery told me that isinglass is very commonly used in cask-conditioned ales and that therefore most 'real' ales won't be vegan but that organic ales, to be certified, cannot use isinglass because it cannot be guarenteed to be organic. The alternatives they use he told me were vegan. So organic ale will be vegan apparentely. I guess you knew all that but hey, I didn't! one great thing was that the organic beer in the festival was also the most popular. (Although I wonder if it was my family who drained the supply) It was good beer as well. bye for now Charlie xxx
