Guest guest
Posted this to another group but others might be interested. It's great on a good day, but... winter, brrr!, all our trees lean over at an angle. No shops, 30 minute trip to get a newspaper, 60 minutes to buy an organic mushroom, and the social life is the Womens Institute and the bowls club. No jobs. Local town wobbles with Wayne and Waynettas. Spiders the size of man's palm, adders, slugs like you never imagined but we have badgers and hedgehogs in the garden and even otters moving back in. Really backward chemical free area. Next door up for sale. I've been campaigning to have it preserved but British Waterways have decided to sell it. Anybody with a spare £100,000+ out there for a grade 2 listed toll keepers cottage plus field next to English Nature peat bog and SSSI on Shropshire/Cheshire/ Wales borders. Organic for over 100 years and needs owner who respects historic houses, nature and canals. Lots of land available for anybody who'll work with English Nature and observe good husbandry, possibly 20 acres. Lots of listed bridges and brill walks. Residents get freedom of the bog. Ancient peat cutting rights (but not if you want to stay friends with English Nature). Location http://uk2.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=europemac & X=350000 & Y= 335000 & scale=50000 & width=700 & height=400 & gride= & gridn= & coordsys=gb & db= hcgaz & overviewmap=ap & scale=50000 & multimap.x=273 & multimap.y=185 It's up for auction in September and if anybody nice wants it, I'll screw the auction by applying for an upgrade to grade 2 star which would have to be declared and put other people off buying!!! If upgraded it would attract grants. Other nasty tricks up my sleeve! Not very impressive pic on http://www.canaljunction.com/engbldg.htm Reputed to be Brindley/Telford. Beside a roving bridge over canal (bridge for horses) Its got stone stairs and fireplaces, arched doors, another storey below the canal, lots of fantastic detail. Tiny rooms. Very basic plumbing. Virtually untouched. Views up three canals. Hey guys, this is me ( my house 20 years ago), this is the area http://www.shropshire-cc.gov.uk/books.nsf/ 907bd90bc0c7f808802568350054f428/ 2f1cbac0adecb38f8025683b0035e08d!OpenDocument If url doesn't work , go to transport - canals. This is one of the bridges, bottom right pic. http://www.canaljunction.com/engbrid.htm Can't find pic of my bridge but this the next one along. You have to open the drawbridge by pulling a chain and is the only access to my patch. Very burglar proof but can't get insurance company to take it into account. http://pages.prodigy.net/brinnand/ramblings/bridges.htm Somebody nice, please buy next door! Really great neigbours;-) Fantastic property for the right person. Rosanne
