I was kind of amused by the hardline Macrobiotic opinion that the people

that were in prisons need to be in hospitals, because they criminal insanity

was caused by bad food and lifestyle, and the people in hospitals should be

put in prison for the crime of abusing their body and the environment.

A touch over simplified perhaps but it touches on my sympathies.

There was one famous study where a penitentiary in the US changed the diet

of the inmates to one that was macrobiotic in nature and cases of violence

and unrest etc dropped by a huge factor. It is crazy to fill folk full of

high protein, high energy " yang-ed up " food when they are going to locked

up for 23 hours a day. An enlightened prison services would just limit their

prisons to a light veggie diet, cut out the sugar and cigarette.

Of course, the prisoners would go cold turkey for a week or so before

slipping into a laid back monastic calm. And it is harder to smuggle Mars

bars into jail than it is heroin or crack cocaine ... I can hear the liberal

whining already about " rights " .

On the hospital side, another study in the UK calculated that the average

vegetarian cost the health serve more that 45,000 UKP less than an average

omnivore. When you stop out side a hospital and see all the folk hugely

overweight and congested out smoking cigarette it make you wonder why we

bother patching them up. Freedom of expression and come to freedom to self

abuse and cost society hugely..

Eat a beef burger and we cut off your right hand.
