yeah yeah yeah

i feel bad knowing that all my specialty vegan items have to be exploiting

SOMEONE, and ive spent a long time thinking abuot it. i walk around in

the city center and i see the homeless people and i see the people with

the clipboards.. nobody else sees them. a lifetime of ignoring them has

made them completely invisible. i do what i can, and i know that if i

was willing to budget a little bit better i could be doing a whole lot

more. but its the greed thing. dammit its MY money, ive worked hard for

it, why should i give it away? ive offered sandwhiches, groceries, drinks,

crisps, and other things to homeless people and some of them will graciously

accept it, while others will jsut ask dont you have any money? it kind

of makes me mad. id love to solve the worlds problems, id love to see

us gravitate toward a society in which we all grow our own foods and

money doesnt exist, but beleive me that will NOT happen in this lifetime,

so why shouldnt i have my toffuti and fizzy cola bottles in the meantime??

Must admit, i have to agree with that. Why should we feel bad about not

giving something to EVERY homeless person we meet or not putting money in

EVERY charity can shaken at us? It just can't be done. I also do not want to

feed some of the homeless peoples addictions, thank you very much! I

couldn't afford some of those habits myself, so why should we help them kill

themselves, anyway?

But we are doing so much, just by being vegan. I think this is a hell of a

lot more than say, someone who thinks they are doing a great deal, by

throwing money at a charity that aids famine in 3rd world countries. If that

person consumes the average western diet then they probably don't realise

that they are doing more harm than good to the very people they think they

are helping. I wish more people could be educated on the damage their diet

alone is doing to humans, animals and the environment. [instead of all the

money that goes into advertising animal products] Though, I have noticed

recently that they are starting to show commercials that encourage the

public to be greener and suggest small changes to their usual livestyles.

Let's hope we will see a lot more of this type of advertising and it will

eventually lead to the connection with the western diet.

So, as far as I'm concerned if we are taking the right steps towards ending

mass starvation, animal exploitation and improving our environment, then we

shouldn't feel at all guilty about not giving away every single spare penny

we have. No one is perfect and pure, but we are doing our bit and that helps

a lot.

Enjoy your Toffuti and fizzy cola bottles!

Dee
